Self Catering Holidays Lake District
We had a cottage called The Old Grain Store that only slept 2 and we think that the other cottage only slept two as well. We took our dog with us and spent the whole week just walking and sleeping. It was so peaceful.
We visited this cottage in July of this year, and had a fantastic holiday.
They had a tennis court, but we didn't use it!, They had a pond, Toby, our dog, used that a lot! The BBQ was great, although this summer hasn't lent itself to BBQing we did have one night using it.
My husband reckons he might come back again next year, or even this winter when he can do some work on the WiFi that was free.
From the front door we were able to walk straight off to the fells into the Kentmere valley. We didn't even have to walk on a proper road, it was fantastic. They had provided a map in the Cottage that we could use, but we would recommend buying your own for peace of mind. There was a large poster on the wall which was also a map where we often planned our next walk.
Visiting Windereme was cool, but if you go on a Saturday it can be very busy. Best to visit on a weekday. Driving around was very easy as the Lake District is very compact. The scenery is stunning, and even on the wet days, there is plenty to do. The owners left a very good folder of activities etc.
